Settings ▸ Cookies
Where you turn on a consent banner and paste your analytics or ad tags.
Three things to know before you start
- Your tracking code only runs on your own custom domain. On your
.setupshop.onlineaddress it never runs at all — that address sets only the cookies the shop needs to work. Connect a domain and the banner and your code appear by themselves. This is the usual reason a shop reports "my banner is not showing". - Code runs only after the shopper consents to its category. Paste each provider's snippet into the category it belongs to (analytics, marketing) — head code and body code separately, as the provider's instructions say.
- Nothing you paste runs on the checkout page. We keep that page locked down for card security. Purchase pixels still fire on the order-confirmation page straight after, which is where they belong anyway.
The controls
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show the banner | Turns consent on. Off, and no banner appears and no optional code ever runs. |
| Position | Where the banner sits on the page. |
| Privacy policy link | The page the banner points at. Point it at your own privacy page under Pages. |
| Analytics / Marketing code | Head and body snippets per category, run only once a shopper has agreed to that category. |
Why there is no "strictly necessary" box
Those are the cookies we set to make the basket, the session and the checkout work. They are listed to the shopper as always-on, and there is nothing for you to edit — a shop cannot switch off the cookie that remembers what is in a basket.
