Email templates
Every email your shop sends a customer, listed in one place so you can read the wording that is going out in your name. You are not building emails here — the design, your logo, your address and the footer come from your storefront theme. What you edit is the words inside it.
How the list is arranged
Grouped by the part of the shop that sends them, and the middle column says when it is sent — which is the column to read, because the names alone don't distinguish two emails that both concern an order going out.
| Group | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Orders | Order confirmation, Order dispatched, Ready for collection, Refund issued. |
| Returns | Return requested, Return approved, Return declined. |
| Buylist | Sell list received, Sell list paid out, Sell list cancelled. |
| Account | Verify email address, Password reset, Confirm address change. |
| Shop | Gift card issued, Back in stock, the two abandoned-basket reminders, and the contact-form email that comes to you. |
| Events | Waitlist place offered. |
Dispatched and Ready for collection are two different emails
Worth knowing before you rewrite either. When you mark an order gone, the shop picks between them based on the order: a posted order gets Order dispatched, a click-and-collect one gets Ready for collection. So if you rewrite one and your next test order takes the other route, it will look as though your change did nothing. Edit both, or neither.
The Edited badge
A row carrying Edited is one where your wording has replaced the default. Everything without it is sending the platform's wording. That badge is the honest answer to "which of these have we actually touched?", and it disappears the moment you restore a template to its default.
Preview
Preview opens the email in a new tab, filled in with example data — a made-up order number, a sample total — so you can see the layout your theme gives it. Nothing is sent and no customer is involved, so preview as often as you like.
Good to know
- These are your transactional emails — the ones the shop sends because something happened. Marketing you write and send yourself lives under Marketing campaigns.
- Changing a template changes what goes out next. Emails already sent are gone and are not rewritten.
- The templates are per shop. Editing yours never affects another shop on the platform.
- Reaching this screen needs the manage email permission, which sits with content rather than with money — a Content editor holds it. So the person who writes your pages can also rewrite what customers are told, without being able to open an order. Set that under Roles & permissions.
